Vlog: A Day in Amsterdam

In Jordaan, Amsterdam

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since my last post, and so much has happened since then. If you follow me on Instagram (wink wink) you know that I was recently in Amsterdam for work. Luckily, I had one completely free day there before I came back to the US, and I wanted to bring you with me!

We started the day at the famous Red Light District, where I show you around the neighborhood on a Sunday morning. It’s a curious mix of quaint and explicit, and I was surprised by how it all came together and felt so normal there.

From there we take a subway to the insta-famous Mama Kelly where I had a ridiculously delicious chicken and pumpkin waffle lunch, paired with a cocktail that was equal parts beautiful and tasty.

After lunch, it’s stroopwafel time! We head back to Jordaan (or the Nine Streets, the neighborhood with the iconic canals) to pick up a freshly made stroopwafel at Van Wonderen. There were so many options available, but I just couldn’t resist the chocolate and m&m one. Which one would you have chosen?

Stroopwafel in hand, we hunt for a café and end up in a gorgeous café inside a hotel courtyard. It was a perfectly cozy spot to warm up and caffeinate!

Having woken up, we then head to the southern part of town where I meet up with a beloved friend, Irene. We were roommates when we both lived in Bologna, Italy, and she also came to our Brazilian wedding in São Paulo four years ago. It was so amazing to see her brand new apartment and catch up! I love that we’ve now seen each other at our respective home countries—now we need to plan the next meet-up!

From her place, we hunt for a good spot to eat traditional Dutch pancakes. She first takes me to a restaurant that has a literal carousel inside! Unfortunately they were close to closing, so we walked around a little more and found a spot that was new to both of us. I was blown away by the sheer size of the pancakes! Thank goodness they’re thin, otherwise there was no way I’d get through it.

We end the day where we started—at Centraal Station, right next to the Red Light District and just across the canal from my hotel, the Sir Adam (which I highly recommend, by the way!)

I thought about including my skincare routine, but since I published that in the Hong Kong vlog, I figured it hadn’t changed enough to include it. So if you haven’t seen that yet, please check it out!

I hope you enjoy the vlog. It was so much fun bringing you with me around Amsterdam!

Have you been to Amsterdam? What was your favorite part? If you haven’t been, what would you like to see?

Stay curious,

Nati
