The Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum, a famous dupe for Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, just got a packaging makeover that is a huge improvement.

Edit: The team from Timeless Skin Care sent me a lovely care package with a refill of the vitamin C serum, their HA Matrixyl 3000 Rose Spray, and their Matrixyl 3000 Serum, both of which I’ve incorporated into my skincare routine and have been loving. The rose spray is a delightfully refreshing summer mist, and the matrixyl serum has been my go-to on nights when I don’t apply tretinoin. While the brand has kindly gifted me their products, this post was written months before that, and my opinion on the new vitamin C serum packaging is my own.

While I’ve always been a fan of vitamin C serums, I’ve also been a big believer in skincare not having to be ridiculously expensive to be effective. That’s the reason I’ve never been willing to cash out $170 for the cult favorite Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. On my hunt for more affordable—yet equally effective—alternatives, I read countless rave reviews of the Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum.

I first bought it from Amazon three to four years ago, and immediately had an issue with it: the packaging. Vitamin C is notoriously unstable in water-based solutions, so to house the serum in a dropper bottle made no sense to me. The constant exposure to light and air made the serum oxidate quickly. I even tried keeping it in my fridge, to no avail.

Over the years, I’ve gone back and forth between this serum and other options. My hack/compromise has been to decant vitamin C serums into the Drunk Elephant C-Firma airless pump. I made a detailed video of how to reuse Drunk Elephant packaging, which you can find here.

When I ran out of my latest serum, the CosRx Triple C Lightning Liquid, I decided to give Timeless vitamin c serum another try. After all, I hadn’t yet tried decanting it into the DE packaging, and it was worth a shot.

You can imagine my surprise, then, when the serum I received was housed in a brand new, vibrant yellow airless pump.

The new airless pump is exactly what I had wished upon thousands of stars. I’m almost done with my second bottle, and I’m happy to report the new packaging keeps the serum airtight and fresh for much longer. It’s also much better for traveling! My only complaint is that the packaging will leak a tiny bit. By the time I finish a bottle, you can see the liquid that has leaked and oxidized. It’s such a tiny amount, though, that it doesn’t bother me too much.

Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the packaging overhaul! This serum will be a forever repurchase for me.

Do you use vitamin C serums? What are your thoughts on this new packaging? Let me know in the comments
